Nancy M. Doda, Ph.D.

Dr. Nancy Doda has been a middle school educator since she launched her career as a middle school Language Arts teacher at Lincoln Middle School in Gainesville, Florida. During her early years of teaching Nancy developed a keen understanding of and passion for the middle school concept. She quickly joined the National Middle School Movement in order to advocate for middle grades teachers and young adolescents. She completed her Masters and Ph.D. at the University of Florida specializing in Middle School Teacher Education.

In 1977, still a young teacher, Nancy delivered her first keynote to the North Carolina Middle School Associations' annual state conference - the first teacher every to keynote the conference. To this day she is one of the only individuals to keynote the National Middle School conference on three occasions. Nancy has since keynoted middle school conferences in every U.S. state, every Canadian province, Europe, and the Far East. She remains in high demand as a conference speaker and workshop leader.

During her career she has been a classroom teacher and team leader, a tenured professor in the Graduate School of Education at National-Louis University's Washington, DC campus; a Board member for the National Middle School Association; and a Charter member of the National Forum to Accelerate Middle Grades Reform. She taught sixth, seventh and eighth grade English and Reading; authored a column "Teacher to Teacher" in the Middle School Journal; and along with Dr. Tob Erb co-authored the book Team Organization: Promise-Practices and Possibilities, a National Education Association best seller. Though her work has been primarily in school settings, she was a featured speaker on the NBC's Today Show, and has conducted many forums with parents and other public interest groups.

Today, Nancy is a full time workshop leader, author and keynote speaker specializing in middle and high school education. She is currently president and founder of Teacher to Teacher, an educational consulting firm located in Brookfield, VT.
